Animals

Most of my work has been with pigs, especially small scale low input production, but I've also worked with goats, sheep, poultry, rabbits, and cows.

In Cambodia (in 2005) I worked writing a man micro-enterprise project manual for small scale livestock production, detailing economics, production system, and animal health issues downloadable here in .PDF format: Cambodian Livestock Micro-Enterprise Development Manual (in English)

There will soon be a version available translated into Cambodian/Khmer for download

The key, I've found, in successfully managing tropical livestock projects is to get a clear understanding of the local disease situation, as poor disease understanding and management is the key reason why animal development projects fail in the developing world. Typically animal disease rates are 10x or 100x higher in the tropical developing world compared to the Western world, and there tends to be a huge lack of vets and good quality animal medicines too.

Feel free to contact me for any specific advice about any of your projects, and I'll try my best to assist.
